Veneers

Dental veneers are an aesthetic restorative treatment. With ceramic dental veneers can have a wider and whiter smile, or simply more "different".

When it comes to dental veneers, the treatment begins with a Smile Design: we simulate on you the new smile before beginning any treatment, so you can test the new smile, you can see how it looks, how it changes you, so you can see the difference.

What it's used for
Veneers are used to correct cosmetic defects on teeth or to correct the way that teeth come together. Cosmetic problems that can be corrected with veneers include:

  • Teeth that are slightly crooked or stained

  • Chipped teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

  • Teeth that are different lengths

In the past, the only way to correct these or other imperfections was to cover the tooth with a crown. The teeth will need to be reshaped (cut) before veneers are put on. Sometimes, very little reshaping is needed. Other times, more of the tooth needs to be removed.

Veneers look like natural teeth. Porcelain veneers resist stains from coffee, tea or smoking better than resin veneers do. Resin veneers cost less, but they chip easily and don't last as long as ceramic veneers. You and your dentist also should talk about whether veneers will work for you. For some people, the way the teeth come together (the bite) creates pressures that could chip or break veneers.

Treatment Process

  1. Consultation appointment (Approximately 30 min)
Detailed examination and analysis of your smile and needs.

  2. First appointment (Approximately 1 hour)
Prepare the teeth and take impressions for the veneer.

  3. Our dentists will work with our in-house laboratory to fabricate the dental veneers for you.

  4. Second appointment (Approximately 1 hour)
Seating of completed veneers and permanently bonding them to the teeth.

  5. Review of completed veneers. Do note that in some cases when patients have parafunctional habits like night-grinding (Bruxism) or clenching, night-guards may be prescribed for protection of these veneers.

For more advanced Smile Makeovers, we conduct a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the patient’s smile (Aesthetic Smile Analysis). Only then will we be able to design the ideal smile for our patients using dental veneers.

Cementation

Veneers are cemented. The adhesive principle is very important in modern dentistry, and maxes possible that the veneer and the tooth become one. This explains the resistance of dental veneers.
